Putin orders govt to mull US proposal to raise intl firms’ taxes

MOSCOW, Jun 17 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin will order Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to study closely a U.S. offer to raise taxes on international corporations, he said on Thursday after a meeting with Director of the Federal Tax Service Daniil Yegorov.

"I am asking you to pay attention to this. I will also ask chairman of the government, your economic colleagues to consider it and have our national interests in mind," he said.

The president also said that Russia has to continue deoffshorization of the economy.

"We have been working in the area with the colleagues since long ago, this is the issue of deoffshorization and tax avoidance in the countries where companies work and gain most profit. We must continue this work," Putin said.
